Beach Cleanup!

You know what an ocean is right? Well, maybe you do now. But what will it be later in the future? We are using the ocean as a huge garbage dump! A lot of people dump their garbage in the ocean because they think it will magically disappear. Well, let me put it this way: the Mediterranean Sea gets about 6 MILLION items of garbage a day!! And that started a few years ago, now there are about 750 million items of garbage in total on the surface of the water. No joke. The most amount of garbage has come from the shore. All the wildlife underwater will die. Unbelievable, isn't it?

Now comes the part of pollution. Evaporation occurs, and water droplets go up and form rain clouds. But because the water is contaminated with all the human garbage, the water droplets are filthy. But even worse, the liquid wastes from factories like mercury and lead, all get completely evaporated and they form acid rain. That hurts marine life very much. The water is polluted, the fish cannot breath properly because just like us, they need fresh water. Not polluted, acid water.

See, if you clean up beaches, then you can save a lot of marine life. Just throwing away that chip packet can save a lot of fish!

Something Extra

Hello once again! Just some extra things you can do that will help the planet without you hardly even lifting a finger! Ok, first off, shopping. You know, grocery shopping, stationary shopping. You buy it, you use it, and then you finally want to throw it. Now, before you do, I want you to check something. Look at the packet of the product or the product itself. You should be able to find a sign that looks like this: .

Now, if you do, then you know that means it is recyclable. That means you have to throw it in the recycle bin. If it doesn't have the sign anywhere, even is it not on the packet, then that means it is not recyclable. (But that is very unlikely ; now normally everything, even some metals are all recyclable. Eg- Aluminium and steel)

What can we do to help prevent it?

There are many things we can do to help save the planet. First, the most simple thing we can do: Pick up your garbage. It sounds easy, but will you really commit? You can pick up garbage, any garbage you can see on the streets, or in your community. Then, put it in the correct garbage can. If it is paper, or something related to that, then dispose of it in the recycling bin. If it is organic, such as a banana peel, or apple skin, dispose of it in the organic bin. Then, if there is any extra garbage you cannot recognize, then you can dispose of it in the normal bin. ( eg- plastic).

Then, if you are going a short distance, please try walking, or taking a cycle. Try refrain from using a car because cars emit gases like carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Do you know they are making cars which are battery operated? So those cars will emit no harmful gases. Driving all those cars will do no harm to the environment. So please try avoiding driving a car that uses petrol and diesel.

Those are just 2 of the million things you can do to save the environment and help prevent global warming. Spread the awareness, tell people when they are doing something wrong like littering. Doing it by accident is ok, but doing it knowingly, is just not cool. Ask people about global warming. Learn more about it from the internet. I also have a little challenge for you: for 1 week, pick up any garbage you find, and put it in the trash bin. No matter how gross it is. If you do it, amazing job. Pat yourself on the back for the good work!
