Animal Of The Week (2)

It's as you guessed, its time to tell you the new Animal of the Week. This week's animal is... the Tiger!

Some facts about the tiger:

Their lifespan is about 10-15 years in the wild, and up to 20 years in captivity.
They are now considered an endangered species.
They can weigh over 300 kilograms (660 pounds)
The most common species is the Bengal Tiger and the largest species is the Siberian Tiger.
They live mostly in grasslands and the Siberian Tiger lives in the Siberian Taiga.
The Tiger is India's national animal.
Tiger's are excellent swimmers, they can swim 4 miles with dead prey and they normally cool off in pools during extreme heat.
Because of poaching (hunting), the population of tiger's in the wild now is estimated to be around 2,000. At the start of the 20th century, it was estimated to be 100,000 tigers in the wild.
The majority of the tigers are now in India.
Humans consider the tiger their main Game. (Hunt)
The tiger was voted the world's most favourite animal based on a pool Animal Planet had.
