Animal of The Week (3)

Hello viewers, it's that time again for the new Animal of the Week! This week's animal is...the turkey vulture!

The Turkey Vulture is one of the biggest birds of prey. It likes to eat dead animals, so it follows highways for animals that we humans run over with our cars. It can smell food even if it is kilometres away. It has a 6-foot wing span, and it can fly for 5 hours straight without flapping it's wings once! After about 3 weeks after it eats it's food, the turkey vulture vomits it out, because the dead animal would be decaying in its body the whole time. The vulture just takes the nutrients from the dead animal it eats and then it vomits it out. Turkey vultures are also very valuable to the environment because it can kill diseases. Suppose it eats a diseased dead animal, the turkey vulture's stomach's fluids will break down the disease and kill it. So that's the new animal of the week, and stay tuned for more!
